Recognition of Prior Learning, also referred to as RPL, is an assessment only process that assesses an individual's formal and informal learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning outcomes, or standards for entry to, and/or partial or total completion of, a VET qualification
To apply for RPL you will need to follow these steps:
- Consider which unit/s you wish to apply for RPL
- Book an RPL interview appointment in the AOT Appointy calendar
- Meet your trainer in the virtual classroom to discuss your RPL portfolio of evidence.
Before your RPL interview with your trainer, you will see the standard unit delivery version of all units of competency. After your RPL interview with your trainer, if they agree that you are a candidate for RPL they will switch your unit from the standard unit to RPL assessment pathway.
You will then complete the RPL assessment/s in the same way as any other assessment in the sauceLMS.
There are 3 parts to your RPL assessment and all must be completed.
- Competency questions
- Supporting evidence (Third party report/Portfolio of evidence)
- To support your RPL application you are required to provide documents that provide evidence you meet the required skills for this unit. A third party report can be completed by a supervisor or employer who can verify the skills and knowledge of the unit in question has been demonstrated by you.
- Work history - Current resume
- Your resume should reflect how your work history and/or your life skills demonstrate the skills and/or knowledge outlined in the unit of competency.
To find out the requirements of a unit of competency you can search for it on the training.gov.au website http://training.gov.au/Search/Training
